 MOTHER COURAGE, FATHER TIME

FREE WORKSHOP FOR BUSINESSES OFFERS SUPPORT FOR EMPLOYEES CARING FOR ELDERLY PARENTS!

People are living longer than ever before., But as parents get older, their Baby Boomer children are facing pressures unknown to previous generations. Adult children are beginning to face the challenge of supporting aging parents. The pressures of succeeding on the job while helping elderly parents – and sometimes also caring for young children at home – can place stresses on employees that may impact their work performance. The situation is particularly compelling for African American and Latino workers. A recent study by the American Association of Retired People (AARP) showed that these groups have fewer financial resources and less access to health care and other support systems than other ethnic groups.

Psychiatric physician Rita Hargrave, MD, who specializes in the mental health needs of older adults, has created Mother Courage, Father Time – Facing Life Transitions with Your Elders. This  one hour interactive session is designed to help individuals who care for elderly adults learn the ABCs of collaborating with their parents. By recognizing and understanding this important life stage, by talking about it and by learning about available helpful  community resources , your employees will be able to effectively manage the transition. Your organization can retain Dr. Hargrave to lead this important discussion with your employees at no charge – her presentation is sponsored by American Association for Retired People.

Below is a brief outline of the program:
